Tibu’s journey in the world of hospitality began at the age of 16 in Spain before making his way to England after marrying in 1987. His career took off at The Casa Italia on Lord Street, which, during its prime, garnered numerous awards for its excellence. It was here that Tibu honed his skills and developed a passion for delivering exceptional service.
No stranger to managing renowned restaurants in the Merseyside area, Tibu’s expertise shone at The Warehouse Restaurant in Southport. Under his guidance, the establishment received accolades such as 2 AA Rosettes and a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The Warehouse was even recognized by The Times as one of the top 50 restaurants in the country. Tibu’s dedication extended beyond the kitchen, as his carefully curated wine list was short-listed for Best Wine List at the esteemed Northern Restaurant Awards.
Continuing his success, Tibu also managed The Vincent, a well-regarded restaurant in Liverpool city centre. Here, he achieved the prestigious recognition of 1 AA Rosette, a testament to his commitment to excellence in every aspect of the dining experience.
In 2021, Tibu embarked on an exciting venture as he opened Tibu Restaurant and Cocktail Bar in Formby, in partnership with a business associate. While he is no longer involved in this operation, Tibu’s vision and passion continue to shape the establishment.
Now, as the General Manager of The Grand, Tibu is poised to infuse his passion and expertise into our esteemed establishment. With his extensive knowledge of fine dining, he is dedicated to providing the people of Southport and beyond with a remarkable culinary journey in our luxurious setting.
