Why are Andrew & Vicky Mikhail raising funds for ICU Steps?

You may know that unfortunately in early 2021 Andrew became very ill due to Covid, He was in hospital for almost 6 months, he was fighting for his life.

This year Andrew have come together with the trustees of ICU STEPS who helped his wife and children considerably whilst he was in intensive care. What do they do?

  • support patients and relatives affected by critical illness,
  • promote recognition of the physical and psychological consequences of critical illness through education of the medical profession and the general public, and encourage research into treatment and the prevention of these issues.

They are the United Kingdom’s only intensive care patient support charity. Their work supports those who have been affected by critical illness and have helped countless former patients, their relatives, and medical staff from organisations around the world and in 2017 were presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

What is Andrew raising money for?

Andrew says, ‘I am proud to say with my funding and fundraising ICU steps “Active” will be starting a weekly online national exercise class run by a senior physiotherapist with a support group afterwards to allow patients to share their experiences. This will be a huge help to many people across the country who are much less fortunate than many of us who do not have the ability to pay for private care.’

My message to NHS

Dear NHS, Doctors, and Nurses, I promised you that what you did for me would never be forgotten and I would try to repay you somehow. I hope that seeing this gives you some comfort and I will continue to do so until the second time I die!

Best regards,

Andrew Mikhail
